Life is about choices and I am in a position where I can choose the directions I wish to travel. Being open and curious brings with the opportunity to learn and experience a wide variety of opportunities and I am a person who loves doing many things. I am only limited by my creativity, imagination and my ego.
Along the path of I life I have learned and experienced many things and it is those things that I have experienced that I truly feel I learned the most from, especially in the sense of the essence of the experience and gaining firsthand knowledge/information. In the past I have taken others words or experiences and allowed them, by my own choice to influence me and often times I have found that was not in my best interests. So, today I like to go out and give it the ole' college try myself and see, feel, taste, touch, experience things. Of course with all things in life, this is relative ( I do not plan to jump of a bridge anytime soon attached to a bungy cord :-).
This weekend is a great example as I attended the Crossfit Level 1 Certification. Impressed?? very much so and I am grateful for the opportunity and experience for a variety of reasons and if I had listened or allowed the influence of others to affect my observations/thoughts/feelings, etc. about Crossfit I would tell that I would have missed out on a wonderful opportunity to learn about a great system of fitness/training.
Crossfit lives up to its word and it does as it says and says as it does. I like the foundation, principles, elements, and fusion of these things. In reality it did not reinvent the wheel but took a ton of great parts and put them into an awesome package that delivers results. If your goals are to be fit across the board and be able to play with your kids, run with your friends, do some cool gymnastic moves like pull-ups or handstands, lift some heavy weights and you love variety, community and self competition then you have found a great system.
Being a jack of all trades, one who powerlifts, kettlebells, trail runs, mountain bikes, snowboards, martial arts, kayak, play rugby and of course a YOGA practice I am a living example of what Crossfit is all about just not completely within their parameters but pretty darn close. Now, the system gives me a way to play around and get some more structured play sessions so I can continue to be a jack of all trades.
Plus, I believe as a coach, for myself, I need to be learning and experimenting with various systems so I can see how they work, effectively teach, coach and explain them to my clients and continue to satisfy their needs/requests. In the process I get to play, learn, experience, and meet new people, things, concepts, and enhance myself and those whom I encounter, nothing wrong with that.
Will I do Crossfit? YES! Did I drink the kool aid? No but I get it and I have to say thumbs up to a great system that backs it up!
I have been very blessed in my life to experience many things and have many good to great coaches and this has helped me specialize and enhance my bag of tools, skills and abilities and Crossfit gives me a place to put them all into one bag and pull from that bag and play around in sound way.
I give a big applause to the Coaches who ran the show this weekend, they do an excellent job of explaining and representing the system and Crossfit should be proud of them as I know they are. I look forward to contributing to them and the community at large and continuing to enhance, evolve, develop the system much like with Kettlebells and Yoga amongst other communities.
You know, if I was not on the path I am and living the word I preach then I would have never had this experience. Freeing myself from ego, judgment, attachment and hard ass opinions has and did not serve me in that moment, the only way it served me was to learn that it does not serve me! I am thankful that I am embracing these concepts and principles and the main one of living without limits, borders, and boundaries, being open, compassionate, grateful, and respectful of all things! I am thankful for all that has happened to put me on this path, I am sure there were easier ways to get here but I am here and now and for that I had a wonderful experience and I have the great honor and pleasure of joining in another amazing community and have another outlet, place, way, to share the goodness, unconditional love, gratitude and ass kickingness of life with amazing people!
3, 2, 1, GO! and do not leave the hips behind ;-)
Namaste and Om Shanti

Crossfit Certification
Yep, that is correct I am heading to San Diego this weekend for Crossfit Level 1 certification. This may surprise many of you and for good reason, let me explain....
So, I have been critical if not to say a non believer in the Crossfit system as well as others, it is not standalone in this case. But, as I mature and gain practical information through study and application I begin to see the merit of all systems, all things in life...ALL!!! I have to say my ego, which is a bunch of BULLSHIT! has hindered me in the past and I have allowed others opinions to do so without seeking and learning through firsthand experience. One lesson I have learned is that nothing mimics first hand experience like firsthand experience, no disrespect to any others.
So as I grow as a human being, which is most important for me, evolving as a complete being not just a coach/teacher/athlete I have learned to set aside EGO and be open, compassionate, grateful for others opinions and experiences and go out learn firsthand before passing judgment. This is truly opening doors for me rather than closing doors and I would rather have my doors open to the unlimited possibility rather than closing of a door/path because I have passed an egotistical judgment that really only holds me back.
My criticism is truly unjust in a general term. Crossfit does have its limitation and is by no means the one and only answer. However, it has many wonderful elements that make it a system that is worthy to learn, teach and implement on some level. Therefore I am heading to get certified.
As a seasoned professional I see ways that I can train the system implementing all that I already know and see how it can benefit me and how I can in turn more importantly teach the system to others, which is the primary purpose of the certification. Personally I am a playful person who loves to do many things. I truly am an athlete who dabbles in many different types of training systems and methodologies much like Crossfit. However, I am less concerned about how fast I can do something, or my time and more interested in having a well rounded program that compliments my personality and playfulness and that will enhance my abilities to teach and reach a larger community in this sense all while increasing my general knowledge of training! Afterall I am in the business of coaching and teaching and it is my job to learn, study, explore so I can help my clientle.
No kool-aid here, just the fact that all things have merit especially if people are taking part in them. All things are not 'perfection' and some are indeed better and more complete than others and all serve a different purpose for different people and this I understand and respect.
So, I am putting aside false pretense and judgement, opening my mind and soul to the experience and what these people whom have invested time and energy to come and share in their passion....and hey, I love to challenge myself and learn so start the clock, cause here I come "Fran" and "Diane", as Jimmy says I coming to get ya!

A letter to my Essence, my essential self!
In the search for understanding of self, discovering and uncovering my essence and my essential self I have traveled far and wide, to 23 countries, hundreds of cities, towns; many mountains, beaches, rivers; had countless conversations with countless number of people all in the effort of exploration and definition.
The number of lessons learned is infinite and growing as is the number of places traveled or yet to be traveled too, conversations had or have yet to be had, etc. Through it all this is really a big part of it and in its own way/words describes my essence or essential self....
I am what I be, what I am and in this moment or in this life what it appears to me is that I am an adventure seeker, an explorer who is curious and wants to learn, share, exchange, see, experience, feel, taste, be part of, live the life of, etc. And, as it becomes even more clear I find that in doing so I am better able to lead by example, speak from my truth, my essence and truly share with people my experiences and share in theirs all in the name of living life to the fullest, living without limits, borders, boundaries, fears and truly challenging and pushing myself to new frontiers.
The lifestyle of a person on the road, out and about, engaging, being a part of the world community! This is an amazing realization and truthfully more of an acceptance and embrace of my essence that a real discovery. Honestly I have known for years that I was like this, I just was not and am still not with 100% certainty how it all is going to show up or play out and part of the adventure and exploration is not knowing and being open to the moment, to the present, to the experience and allowing the present moment to move you in the direction you move.
I fought this for years, fought living my truth, my essence out of fear, out of influences that were not my own but allowing others to direct me, out of what I thought was the "RIGHT" way to do things, out of fear of loss of control, loss of partnerships (intimate partners), out of many factors that were not truths but things I made up due to my choices.
So, it has been a journey and continues to be one, but through time and by traveling down the paths I have and awakening to present moment, becoming conscious, becoming grateful, and finding uncondtional love, understanding and embracing non-attachment, embracing the compassionate way for self and others, and so many more factors (practically endless things, lets just chalk it up to an accumulation of the collective of all my experiences) I have come to my essence.
I stare it right in the face every time I look in the mirror, or engage with people, etc. I am not afraid of it and nor am I attached to it but I am embracing it and flowing through life with this understanding and an appreciation of my past, present and future.
I realize that living this way is not for everybody, and in fact may be for only 1% of the population. Many may not understand or even want to and many may be curious and some may even wish to do what I do in some way or another. None of this is important, it is part of life and the experiences we have. I am just grateful to have found my essence and embrace it in the present moment.
This chapter is in the beginning stages with so many potential pages to be written and many chapters to follow, stay tuned it is growing in adventure which means many stories, reflections, and excitement to come through the many varied expereinces and opportunities.
I say all this as a reminder to myself, as a letter to myself and my inner essence. Thank you for sharing in this with me and making it what it is!

Slowing Down
Yep, thats right, time to slow down! Seems odd for a person such as myself to say slow down or even promote such a concept. But, I have found that this is crucial, especially in this day and age, to take time to slow yourself down, to stop what your doing and just sit, be, and I am not talking about watching TV.
Through the implementation of yoga but even more importantly the practice of meditation, sitting in one place, quietly breathing and just allowing myself to be in the here and now, thoughts to flow in and out of me like a river has truly slowed me down and made my life so much more peaceful and more important helped me to learn how to appreciate everything I do, every moment, every conversation, everything and to see it for what it is. The big thing is I started to see, observe things I was not because I never slowed myself. Instead of running I have found myself stepping slowly and consciously in whatever direction I move and with a curiosity and appreciate/gratitude I have never before.
The funny thing is I found that by moving slower I moved faster, by doing less I was doing more. This was not my intention nor an expectation but more a by-product of slowing down. I realized just how amazing and full of experience/opportunity my life really is. I have found that instead of having to do this and that because it is good for me, or necessary, or this or that I am doing it because I see the joy, the beauty, the experience, the excitement, the opportunity, and recognizing that i have been blessed with all these amazing senses and abilities to do in life and that I must do just because I feel like a kid in the playground, innocent and free, gleeful and playful, open and exploring, and just being with whatever I am doing in that moment, no attachment.
All the sudden I found more space, more freedom from my yoga and meditation practice and this gave me the ability to move in ways I had only imagined. I feel stronger, fitter, more flexible, more aware, more conscious, more open and free of hard opinions and judgments, less fearful and more understanding of fear in general, more accepting of life and the things being presented, more ability to say no or yes and realize if it was the appropriate path or direction at that point in time and so, so much more.....
All this has come about by slowing down and the practice or awareness came through yoga and meditation. I realize that this is not everyones way but it is one that drastically changed my life and allowed/enabled me to come into my essence, my essential being and be my authentic self. Because of this my life is full of life and at the same time I am able to approach life like a kid, curious or as in Zen, with a beginners mind and realize that each moment is a moment unto itself but it plays a role in each and every moment thereafter and all of life is a series of experiences and moments that lead you to where you be in that moment.
So as a friend asked me the other day, do I get down or depressed or bummed. The reality is no, I do not. I feel still but I act on gratitude and compassion, I am able to reflect and see things for what they are. Now, I am not saying never or I will never but I find that it is not happening. Is my life perfection, by no means but it is perfect here and now for what it is but this does not prevent me from wanting to learn, grow, experience, share, exchange, listen, hear, be free of attachment, etc. I am a beginner and as Bruce Lee says, when they close the casket, then you can call me a Master (if that is to be so, if not, so be it). The reality is I am living and enjoying life to the fullest, exploring the endless and boundless possibilities that exist.
I find I am so blessed in life with great people, unlimited amounts of love and affection, opportunities that are just amazing and full of experiences and memories that seep deep into my soul and spirit and add to the culmination of all the beauty that touches the depths of my being.

What are we waiting for???
Really, you ask yourself what you are waiting for in life? Often I hear people say they are waiting for the 'right' time but what is the right time, when is the right, is there a who with that right time?
I wonder aloud and I ask myself this question and now it seems that all I am waiting for is the funds and the appropriate event or weather to take advantage of what it is I want to do.
2 examples
World Cup Soccer only comes ever 4 years, so I am waiting for the 2010 event in Africa. Now, I have some other things I want to do as well that my overlap or sap funds from this and that is ok, but I have it in my sites and if it is meant to be it will...I am not waiting though
The other is too go to Nepal, Mt Everest and Tibet. Research has shown that there are optimal times and April/May is the best. So, I am planning this, now the 2 of these events potentially conflict $$$ wise but I am certain to do them at some point if not next year.
These are just examples of things in my life that I can make excuses as to why to wait, etc. but the truth is I am ready, I am able and I am willing so I am working toward them both as things to do. For me I have so many travel ideas, places I want to see, things I want to do whether I do these next year or not is not as important, AS LONG AS I am doing other travel things ;-).
I guess I am curious why we reason ourselves out of things, why we wait for the perfect confluence of events to conspire, etc. Does this approach serve us? Are we limiting ourselves from living in our essence? Are we cheating ourselves out of the things we want in life?
This weekend a number of people approached me (family and friends) telling me how awesome it is that I am doing all this travel and how they wish they would have done the same thing when they were younger. Many of them reasoned that as you get "older" you are able to do less and traveling abroad, living on the road, etc is just not something that older people do, so "do it while your young and you can" was the commonly shared feedback.
I understand this thought process and why they feel this way but I choose not to accept that as my truth, I choose to take life by the horns and do my best to live life to the fullest, to live to my human potential. I do not want to be limited by society, tradition, prevailing wisdom, money, time, etc. This is my F*&KING life and I have no time to wait to live my life the way I want.
Dam it is no wonder I love Frank Sinatra and that he also is Italian. Must run in the blood of us passionate beings!
The time is now, so what are you waiting for???

To be Chillin
You know and some of you do indeed, I used to be so super passionate that I was often defensive, unable to laugh at myself, would get frustrated, anger, jealous, resentful, and just a plain old ass at times, not often but to often at the same time. But throughout these experiences I was fortunate to have the ability to look back and learn from this and from people who were kind enough to let me know I was being a pain in the ass.
The journey or this particular journey did not happen over night, in fact I would say it took 34 years to get to where I am today, which really is a place where I feel chill, peaceful, where I can laugh, poke fun and just be free and open to life. I can say this for certain, I am in a far better place where I am today than ever before. the road was not always smooth and some great people were part of the carnage along the way but it was not personal or at least now I can say that.
I have kept working and working on myself and thank goodness for people and experiences that have led to opportunities combined with other factors all that work is paying off and the neural pathways are being set for a place of peace, gratitude, love, compassion, humor, humility, openness, etc.
The journey is an amazing one, one I look back and have so much compassion and gratitude for everything. Because of this, missing out on 2 awesome adventures, 10 days in Norway for national geographic magazine (cause i was too short) and the Rickshaw Run in January has no affect because I am just grateful to have the chance and I know that many more opportunities will come about and these 2 helped me to gain more insight into my essence, so I have learned and I am excited to create more things to do.

Rickshaw Run, 3500 miles through India in a 3 wheel scooter!
The adventures keep on coming! So, after 25 days hanging out in Australia and New Zealand I have come back with a BIG burning desire to continue my travels and extensively. Definitely I am looking forward to doing this traveling around and teaching which is already in the works for June in Germany and August in Costa Rica but even beyond this....so much is being discussed and planned and life truly is full of unlimited potential of possibility.
This is one of the things that always comes about when I travel, the unlimited potential and unlimited number of possibilities that exist. The experiences and opportunities that arise out of these is amazing, I know I am not at a loss of things to do, see, experience...I only would hope that I can accomplish it all or at least live in such a way that I am always out experiencing life to the fullest.
So, next up Germany in June, 3 (Strength and Conditioning) seminars scheduled and more in the works, then Costa Rica teaching Yoga. After that in talks with a good friend about co-hosting a holistic health and wellness retreat in Bali and so much more....
But here is the one I am eager to experience and in search of a good partner to join me on. I have had initial discussions with a great friend whom I hope will say yes, you know who you are!!! This next adventure will truly test on many levels and will be one to remember and tell the grandkids about. I am talking documentary, pics, twitter, facebook, etc. all in an effort to practice what I am all about, being free to live life without limits, exploring the goodness of humanity, the culture of a foreign land and the history all in the name of unlimited potential, great fun, memories, etc.
The event is known as the Rickshaw Run and goes through a 3500 mile odyessy through India in a 3 wheel, 1500cc Rickshaw. The things are known for breaking down and being totally unreliable, the race route is known as the un-route because well there is no direct way and nothing is guarenteed, not even finishing. Now this is done tri-annually and each time takes a different route. 64 teams will 'compete' over 2+ weeks. To me, this is the essence of what my philosophy of life is all about and truly is an opportunity to live my life without limits. Wish me luck as I go for my spot, no committed teammate as of yet on Thursday

The End of Journey that is never ending!
Another Journey around the world has come to a completion, but in reality it is never over. I am still learning from Europe which was 10 years ago, it seems that these experiences live with you forever as they truly are great teachers of life.
Some things I learned on this trip
* People are people no matter where you travel, we are simply humans doing our best to live our lifes to the fullest and with happiness, love, family, friends, and a bit of fun.
*I cannot change things that I have done in the past but I can learn and in the process be humbled and thus evolve beyond where I was to become a better person, more loving, kind, compassionate, free, open, understanding, respectful, grateful, appreciative, curious, living with a greater sense of wonder and humor, more chilled, more relaxed, more peaceful, and on and on!!!
The simple fact is that I have done things in my past, acted certain ways, said things, etc. that I would never do today. I cannot take those things back, cannot change the past but I can learn from those experiences, humble myself, have compassion for myself and others who may have been affected due to my actions, and can choose to not repeat those expereinces and have gratitude that I am conscious enough to admit that I can do things better and willing to suffer the humility and make the changes.
We only know what we know and in time we learn, grow, evolve, change and therefore the way we act, respond, chose, be changes and everything in hindsight is clearer. The thing is to be open, present, conscious, humble and have that child like beginners mind where you are curious and willing to explore others, yourself, life, etc.!
Life is AMAZING, people are amazing, we are all HUMAN doing our best, lets appreciate everyone and every experience for what it is and if you do not like then be the difference, act the part by being that change you wish too see, these are the words I tell myself and thank you, all of you for making me who I am and to be able to learn and realize what I have shared!

Reflection
I have had the great fortune to visit many a beautiful places and do many amazing things in my life. Yesterday was definitely one of the HIGHLIGHTS of my life! Kayaking the Milford Sound in New Zealand playing with Dolphins, Seals, big beautiful waterfalls cascading 1000-2000 meters off of sheer granite walls with majestic peaks, glaciers and the most tasty, calm pristine water one could imagine for being in an ocean.
Now, pictures are indeed worth a thousands words but experiences are priceless! Truly pictures did and do not do this place justice.
I suppose if there is one word of advice I can give to people is that if you have the chance, the time get out and see the world, travel to foreign lands and not just the cities but the places that mother earth has blessed us with. And when traveling make sure to take time to interact with the local folks, this is some of the richest experiences you will have in your travels.
Often when talking with folks they tell me that many Americans do not take time to talk and share with them. The locals tell me how much they appreciate when foreigners take time to interact, engage and explore with them.
As I travel I truly realize that this world is full of amazing, beautiful people, places and opportunities. The world is sure bigger than the white picket fence, BMW and designer label clothes, not that there is anything wrong with this...to each their own and it does truly take all kinds and that is what makes the world so amazing.
When you travel you meet all kinds and you realize that a friendly smile and as Ernie, a South African man said too me, it is how you say things that makes the difference, and the reason I can quote this man is because we both stepped out of our box, had a beer and chatted about life, our lives, the similarities and the differences and how we came to meet up in a foreign land 'by chance'
I am grateful for my curious mind, my willingness to explore and in this experience the lessons I am learning and my realization that I have a responsibility to this world, to the people of the world community and it is imperative that I get out and do this work! Yes, I do believe we all have this in our unique way and it is up to each of us to figure it out.
What it is for me, well I am already doing bits and pieces of it and more keep coming. I am young and so much is in my presence and present and so much more in my future! Time will tell the story of what it is for me, I do have a vision, a intention but I am open to the present, to the opporutinities and experiences that life puts in front of me! So to say this is the exact way would not be possible, I just know that when it is all said and done I will fulfill my responsibility, my role and leave this world a better place.
I hope you all join me in walking this world, engaging with the people and places of this world and experience firsthand life in this world outside of your comfort zone or box and in the process discover your journey, what your responsibility is!
You truly can have it anyway you wish!!!

Perfect Day...and things that make it perfect for me
You ever been so fortunate to have the perfect day? Well, I have and the funny thing is since I really began to tune in and open my consciousness I have found that everyday is perfect. Why not, I am alive, living, breathing, experience, embracing, feeling, being, sensing, learning, growing, loving, showing and being grateful, healthy, peaceful, and on and on!
So let me give you an idea of the past 2 days and what I have been experiencing in these 2 perfect days.
*Coffee at a great little spots where I can sit and sip watching time slowly pass and people cruise by doing there thing.
*A good book while sitting and sipping.
*A journal to record my thoughts and observations of life as I sit and sip coffee.
*Good music to listen to while sitting and sipping coffee, and while running, and doing yoga on the beach and while sitting on the beach watching the waves crash gently on the warm and soft sands of time!
*A good beach to swim in, too watch people, too watch the ocean, to run along, to do yoga on.
*Yoga on the beach
*running on the beach
*Sitting on the sand of the beach enjoying the views of life
*Peace and quiet and stillness that comes from living the moment and being in pure beauty and presence
*A good sweat!
*Silence
*Beauty
*Peace
*harmony
*grace
*Gratitude
*A being present, conscious, and aware that this is all happening here and now!
Feel blessed to be forutnate to walk in my shoes and be able to experience and share this with you all.

A reflection on my travel experience
LIfe on the road, traveling such as I am is just one of the most important must do's in life. What one learns, sees, experiences, etc. is just mind bending, mind numbing and totally life changing! What you thought you knew, what you thought was this and that truly comes right in front of you and will challenge every aspect of your being.
this is not to say that this not part of normal life if one is open, aware and present but this is too say it is truly a unique experience unto its own. I mean truly this is something that should be mandatory or at least exist as an encouraged option in the US and everywhere. I know that some countries have this built in as an option and encourage their people to experience the amazing opportunities that traveling out of your realm, to a new land, new culture, new places, offers.
yes, I miss home, I miss my family, friends, clients, and some of the wonderus daily activities and lifestyle I lead but times like these make me appreciate and have that much more gratitude for all I have in my life, all the possibilities that exist! Plus, my level of compassion increases and I truly see much more clearly the realities of life and what can be done to shift, transform, change, improve some of the things that are less than appealing.
Also, one of the main things I see is the Basic Goodness in all mankind, all people. Even those whom I do not choose to mimic, follow, etc. they all serve as teachers and great reminders that we all are doing our best given what we know, what we understand, what we have at our disposal.
I am fortunate to have to opportunity and curious mind to explore and be open to all that is available, for this I am humbled, compassionate and grateful. But also this spurs me onto make a bigger difference, to share and exchange with all of the people of this world. This makes me want to continue to serve all mankind and explore and learn more ways that I can spread this awareness of the basic goodness and help others to open their eyes and perspectives to the unlimited potential of mankind!
I ask myself each day what can I do to make this and those I encounter shine and help their inner essence glow so they can explore their unlimited human potential. this means I have to do the same and holds me to a high standard, not others but me to be a leader by example and to show a possible or number of possible ways to go beyond our boundaries, borders, etc.
Blessed, honored, humbled, compassionate, grateful and full of life and love!

Dont Slip, Slick
Went on a beautiful kayak trip today out of Airlie Beach which this area is comprised of 74 Islands the most famous is WhitSundays and Whitehaven (which is 95% silicon beach). We did not actually tour these as they are a bit far for a day trip but we did check out 2 other islands.
We were able to catch sea turtles and big eagles which was super cool and just floating and paddling through the beautiful waters is breathtaking especially when looking around you all you see is mountain filled with trees (tropical area) which makes up many of the islands
So, we snorkeled around and then there was the cool rock climb to a lookout. I could not resist and the views were indeed nice...but I thought what the heck why not go higher up and as I reached doing the splits, barefoot and hoping to pull myself and jump up to the next big rock, OOOOPS I slipped falling 10 feet down on my back scraping myself as I slide between the big rocks. Fitting for our trip that this would happen but I would have thought to Tully not me. Luckily I just have some big scraps and nothing more! I walked out ok but definitely with some big red marks.
So, off to snorkel the reef tomorrow on a big Catamaran and then flying to Byron Bay to Surf and Catch the blues festival and Michael Franti and Spearhead

Update
Ok, so I sure could add more to the stories but with limited time I have not been able to do justice...I wish I could add pics to support this whole adventure but upon my return
Quick follow-up from the Spaceship fiasco. Instead of the sleeping in a minivan, we are relegated to an Ocean View 1 Bdr Apartment...pretty sweet upgrade, the cost was a 30 hour trip of 1200 km, a sleep in a parking lot of the mechanics place, and a half day in Gin Gin, which is equivalent to a small town in the midwest or bum fu*k egypt!
At the Great Barrier Reef and loving it!

Houston, we have a problem!
The Spaceship has officially crapped out! SO the van we rented, AKA the Spaceship named Sprocket broke down out in "middle of nowhere" in Queensland. After a 2 hour ordeal, a movie called In Search of America which we watched in the Van awaiting the tow truck we finally made our way to the small town of Gin Gin.
Yes, it is hard to believe that so many goofy things could happen in a short period of time, like cars breaking down, missing connections, baggage handler strike, driving the wrong road, etc. but this is the case.
Talk about a test of your sense of humor, patience, friendship, and my personal life philosophies, this has truly been a great way to challenge my being and my way! All this being said, I have stayed true to my essence and am truly grateful and enjoying this whole experience. Yes we lost a day due to the SPaceship breakdown, in turn the company is arranging alternate transport and setting us up with accomodations which are far better than sleeping in a small caravan for 4 days.
So here we are, here I am living the adventure of life, truly exploring myself, Australia, my philosophy or way of being, and so much more! How can I not be enjyoign myself!

Do not trust the GPS, Australia Part 2
So goof balls like me love to backpack, free wheeling around and just letting things happen and come as they may. You have an idea where you want to go, what you want to do but you are open for anything and everything because that is the point. So, sometimes you head to a place with the intention of staying for a night or two and then moving on but things arise and all of the sudden you change your direction.
So we are at Noosa Heads which is this most amazing a beautiful place on the Eastern shore of Australia, abouot 2 hours south of Brisbane on the way toward the barrier reef. Of course we have no accomodations and just plan to find something when we arrive. Now, my mate Tully is a planner so this is a bit unlike him but he is open to trying things my way, and being a backpacker himself who has traveled extensively this is not much of a stretch, he just has to remember the good ole days :-)
So, of course we decide to change directions. We are scheduled for a tour of Fraser Island (a must see/do) the next morning at 740 am and our pickup point is about 45 minutes from Noosa at Rainbow Beach.
So after a look on the internet for possible accomodations, an email inquiry and confirmation, a check in with Tully's wife we are on our way. It is night out and Tully cues up the GPS (TomTom) to lead the way. Tully has a sweet ride, an new Audi Quattro hatchback sporty car so we are traveling in style, although I am sitting on the left, which in Australia is the passenger seat...weird cause I want to drive, LOL
The GPS picks our coordinates and lines us up to go what appears through this really beautiful tropical forest versus the long way which would take us out towards the mainland and then back toward the coast which appeared to be the long way any who.
So off we go and Tully's wife Rachel was warned from our destination hotel to be careful of the GPS because it brings you along a dirt road which is 40+K. As you can imagine we ended up on the dirt road, failing to listen to the wife and Hotel owner and what a freakin crazy off-road, YES off road in the wilderness at night ride, big rocks, pot holes, bumps, ruts, you name it all in this Audi.
Poor Tully was going nuts and could not believe what we were doing. Now, failing to trust his own intuition we stuck it out even though a number of times he spoke of turning back because he thought we were going the wrong way (which we were not) and it was brutal on the car!
Now, I was laughing and keeping my cool just supporting and encouraging him to follow his intuition...too me we were well beyond the turnaround point once we reached half way, the worst that could happen is we would have to pullover and spend the night in the forest, which was beautiful with gorgeous skies filled with sparkling stars everywhere we looked and a sliver of a moon.
Of course, we made it and a 45 minute ride took over 3 hours and a few scratches on the cars underside, thank goodness that is all!
A few good laughs, on my part not necessarily Tullys, a great journey that is typical of these kind of adventures, a GPS that was right in its course, but truly did not understnad the type of road it chose, and the fact that we must trust our instincts and intuition which for me was to avoid this road and take 'the long way' which in fact we did on the way home and it took only, you guessed it 45 minutes to get back to Noosa.
Life is truly about the experience, the journey and just enjoying these moments and being free and open to all possibilities and doing so with great people!

From a Land Down Under! #1
Wow, what an amazing adventure already. Missed connections, baggage handler strikes, driving on the wrong side of the road, looking the wrong way when crossing the street, driving while in the passengers seat, and the sychronistic connections.
Really, words truly cannot describe the expereince and I am not sure I have the ability to truly express what I am experiencing here in Australia. I just know I am where I am supposed to be.
Today I went to a local health and wellness place to do check the yoga schedule. Little did I know that why I was there was far more than I could have imagined. Just being open to the moment, conscious of the moment and my place in time, having a fearlessness and open heart to life and feel the experience lead me too a new friendship, a job opportunity here in Brisbane teaching Yoga and doing work as an exercise physiologist and speaking...plus I am being put in contact with a lady whom is doing a documentary on Making a Difference and I might just be a contributor.
This is just what it is and for me it is evidence that living and being as I Be continually nourishes my spirt, my soul, my heart, my being and gives me the strength and ability to spread and share this with the community. All this serves me to better be able to serve others, specifically for me to raise the consciousness of the world community, to realize the beauty that is the life we live and that there truly is no barriers or boundaries, only the self imposed ones which we have the power and ability to breakdown and I am there to support and encourage you in your efforts to breakdown any walls that may bind you!.
I believe in you, I believe in the basic goodness of you and all mankind! It is time for us to believe in ourselves, as you can see or at least I would like for you to see from my experience, that in believing in myself my life is truly magnificant and I am enriched and nourished each and every moment of every day with life, love, beauty, harmony, grace, compassion, gratitude, humor, peace, wellness, health, and so much more, all unconditional.
All this in only 1 day in Australia, wow 23 more days and enjoying each moment of each moment!

Off to Australia and New Zealand, A Walkabout of Life!
Today I embark on a journey. This journey will take me to new land, with new experiences, new opportunities, new memories, and a new perspective. It is in the journey that I truly experience life and living, it is the journey that makes life! I am excited to continue my journey of life and leave on a big ole jet airliner to Australia and New Zealand.
Travel is a part of my essence. It is going out and exploring and experiencing new cultures, new lands, different perspectives and taking myself, removing myself from one of elements to another element. Things hold true and one such thing on journey's such as these is I act with love, compassion, kindness, openness, gratitude, humbleness, humility, integrity, character and a willingness to share, exchange, explore, experience all that life has to offer.
It is with a sincere appreciation I take this walkabout to truly take time and reflect on the beauty that is life and the life I live and have lived and will live! I do this to grow as a human being, to gain a deeper understanding and compassion for man kind and mother earth. I do this to come back 'home' and bring life to all those I share with and whom are present in my life. I do all this with great humility and deep gratitude.
Life is special and the world, our existence is truly our oppprtunity to life and experience whatever it is we wish too! this is the path I choose and I am grateful for all the love and support and the ability to share and willingness of others to recieve. Because it is together with all the people of this beautiful world that we truly prosper!

Do not wish failure upon another!
Leadership is a trait that is not just a part of a personality or characteristic but it is an Action, a practice, a way of living! What kind of leadership do you want? Are you a leader? These are questions worthy of asking, life or death no but at least worthy of considering.
Why this topic, why today? Well, in times of need, when people are down, people are struggling, morale is at a low and the world is facing a looming crisis or at least that is what is being portrayed we need strong leadership on all levels. We as a world community need to come together and help one another out, help our brothers and sisters of this world.
Now, whatever your party preference is your thing, who I am too say. Plus, too me this is not about political parties, etc. this is about serving one's own interests over that of a nation and world for that matter. Today, a well known Republican came out in support of President Obama failing!!! What the f&*k is that all about?
Do we not realize that when our President, whether Obama, Bush, Clinton, Nixon, etc, fails that all the people in this country suffer? We have to accept what is and embrace, if not challenge but we as a people should not be wishing the demise of Obama or the Democrats or even the Republicans at this or any time.
People it is BIGGER than the name, bigger than the party! Get the heck over it. Sure we all have our views and differences, this is what makes us who we are, who am I too judge. No matter what, we should not be hoping for failure but encouraging and working to help our people of this wonderful nation and world, prosper in health and wealth!
It may be cliche, but we need to Unite! after all we are part of the "uni'verse, and we function as a unit even as individual cells. When the cells run rogue, the unit as a whole suffers. So, lets work as best and close as possible to help the unit function at its highest!!
We are One and Believe me when I say what you do matters!

Reflection....from there to here and now
So I was just thinking back to how I was and I realize and have to admit I was a stubborn, hard headed, strong minded, egoic, ass, son of a bitch at times and could be really mean, controlling, possessive, angry and jealous to name a few....so may argue that I still am this way, LOL
What I know is this, this is all true and I admit it! But this is how I was, who I was but not at my core but in my ego self. And, these were the lessons and experiences that I needed to be where I am today. Now, I would have liked to bypass all this and been where I am without some of the consequences of my behavior. I caused people pain, anger, frustration, stress, hurt, broken hearts, disappointment, and so much more because of the way I behaved and acted out.
I have, am and continue to transcend this and develop into my essence. I have to say all the small 'victories' through the years mixed in with the setbacks have added up and now I am in my essence 90% of the time or more or less...who knows but I am aware of where I am and where I have been and where I am headed!
I have so much gratitude and humility at the same time that I can openly admit who I was and too see where I am and have come too. All the experiences, the people, etc. have truly helped me to become who I am and for all you I say thank you and pass my love.
I am human and slip sometimes and these moments serve to educate and empower me and remind of my humanity! They help me to grow and evolve and in turn share with you, all of you and possibly raise our level of awareness and consciousness to new fronteirs, beyond our self imposed boundaries.
I am a human being traveling the paths that unfold in front of me moment by moment, appreciating the beauty and perfection of each moment, of all the experiences that are happening, open and free to live and experience the love and grace that embodies all that is! So grateful and humbled by life!
Can I just say it is soothing and peaceful to share this and be honest and truthful. I did not get into some of the details, the who's, etc. but out of respect to all that 'stuff' I say thank you, I am grateful and I am apologize!

It is with great humbleness and humility that I write and share my being with all whom take the time to engage and exchange with what I present. For this I openly admit that I am a passionate soul who has strong believes but also who is willing and open to admit that I am not attached and therefore willing to adapt.
Why? because evolution is dependent on a species ability to adapt and progress beyond their current state! I stand firmly but flexible and willing to bend and give accordingly. I use great discretion and meditation to feel the way of the path and which direction is best travelled.
I really appreciate the wisdom behind Bruce Lee and his philosophy. I have great respect for the words he has chosen to share his being. This particular quote below truly describes where I am on my journey.
"Before I practised the Way, A cloud was just a cloud and a mountain was just a mountain. After I'd studied the Way, a cloud was no longer a cloud, a mountain was no longer a mountain. Now that I understand the Way, A cloud is again just a cloud, a mountain is just a mountain. (The clouds and mountains are simply kicks and punches)."
As I have travelled far and wide and continue to do so I have found the simplicity that is life. We all are working to make our "Way" in this life, this world and I am no different. That is one of the true insights, is that we all are the Way, we all are truly unique but truly the same, human beings traveling a journey.
As travelers we look to take a path, some follow, some breakground, there is no right or wrong way, just whatever fits you best.
Some things I have found and reflect on for myself:
*Share and exchange with people in a humble, compassionate, open (non-ego), loving, kind, respectful, gentle manner
*Listen to what is being said, what is going around you and let the sounds flow through you and take with gratitude what you wish
*Do not pass judgement on others, for we are only human and we can only know what we know. Instead being open and willing to explore with people helping each other evolve.
*We are only limited by our own believes and those whom we let influence our believes. So, again listen and appreciate the words of others and just know that those are their words and it is for you to formulate your own, but always with respect, compassion, gratitude and love...not judgement!
*This is YOUR life, no one elses! Live it and if you embrace an attitude of gratitude and unconditional love and compassion for all beings and our open to any and every possibility, because they are endless, then more doors and portals will open and so will options, opportunities, experiences, etc and who knows....
*Give it your best day in and day out! What the heck, it is life and you are living! Embody and be your essence through each moment and do not let anyone tell you different!
*You are wise, you are beautiful, you are human! embrace your being, embrace life and create like Picasso your own unique work of art.
*The key is to live with integrity, gratitude, compassion, unconditional love, appreciation, within your essence, with faith in yourself, believe in yourself, and the no matter what you do in life, good things will come because that is what you see, that is what you choose, Good things!
*The time is NOW and it is YOU who truly makes the difference in your life!
*We are a global community and our choices affect everyone and everything because all things are interdependent, all eco-systems and organisms work with each other to create the beauty that is you and this life we live! Appreciate and embrace the fact that you are a part of a large whole and your part is equally beautiful and important as all other parts but no more than any other part for all humanity is a creation and it is our role to make ourselves and be the change, be the beauty we believe in!
The list can go on, I just had to put this on paper. For I am grateful for all the beauty that exists, for all that I have been so fortunate to experience, for the gifts I have been give and cultivated, for the friends, family, people in my life!
I know as a student that my embracing and embodying these things above have only made my life the best possible life! For a cloud is just a cloud and a mountain just a mountain and how beautiful and simple they are in their essence! Gratitude!

The Picture
The picture:
As a scientist and trained exercise physiologist I will teach you how to safely, effectively and efficiently move your body. You will learn the in’s and out’s of how your body works.
As an artist I will help you to architect, design, create, etc your picture, what you envision for yourself. I will help you understand that you are your own piece of work, your own canvas, laboratory, field to play in and create your Picasso.
As a philosopher I will help you understand what it takes to make that vision come to life and then to embody and live that vision each and everyday! I will help you to understand how to life, how to be your essential self, to live your life without limits and the deeper level meaning behind ‘it’.
And as the guide, I will help you to get to the place you wish and if need be help you to understand where you wish to be, where it is you wish to go. I will be there for you throughout your journey, a presence who is available and a resource for you.
Together, we will work as a team to make sure that the quality of your experience on this journey is one that leads you to being whom and what you envision and so much more!

Part 5: The Guide
The Guide:
You have a direction, I have the compass and map to get you there. You have an idea of what it and where you wish to go, I help you understand and define this. Here the artist and the guide come together to lay the path for your journey to your destination. What you will experience is far more than you bargain for and as your guide I will be there to help you on this journey. You will lead and I will follow you as you navigate your course.
I will always be there by your side for consultation, for reflection, for exploration, if you ever need a hand, a tool, I will be there as your guide. I indeed can get you there but I understand that it is you who will actually get yourself there, I am that person, that tool that is accessible for you on an as need basis.

Part 4:The Philosopher
The Philosopher:
If you know me well, then you know I am truly a philosopher and student of philosophy! Everything I learn, experience, etc. is a look into the philosophical aspect of what it is that life is presenting in that moment, what lesson and opportunity are being offered! As a coach I teach philosophy of life, philosophy of relationship, of movement.
My practice philosophy is that of a daily art, a daily practice of living a life filled with possibilities, unlimited ones at that. I encourage people to explore themselves, their lives and their relationships with all people, with all things and see with an empty cup and to flow like water.
My philosophy is that of the martial artist, the yogi, the traveler, the adventurer, the explorer, the curious kind, the artist, the human being that I and we all are, a member of a worldwide community of unique and beautiful humans!

Part 3: The Artist
The Artist:
So my skills as artist are wide and varied. My work appeals to a select group of individuals. Like Picasso I have and do incorporate many techniques from charcoal to acrylics. Therefore when you look at my artwork what you see is an interesting collage of unique pieces. Now, the foundation, principles, concepts and systems of each technique or piece is similar. What is in place is a system that continues to evolve and grow based on a strong core. Now, philosophically speaking the system is adaptable and there is no attachment to ‘one’ way. Simply put I do not want limitations but instead want to be open to the unlimited possibilities that life presents in each and every moment. This is why the variety of works and techniques!
As an artist I am constantly sculpting, drawing, throwing paint on the canvas in a playful manner with an idea of how it might be but open to the possibility of what it will be. As an artist I enjoy each stroke of life, each stroke I take making certain that I am conscious of what I am doing and truly taking time to enjoy the work as it is being done. As an artist I realize as I finish one piece of work that there is so much more to explore and therefore my work is truly never done. Also as an artist I take time to appreciate and show gratitude for all the other artists and look to them as teachers.
As an artist I am constantly looking at things with an open mind and curious eye. I am looking at the geometry, physics, algebraic equations of how everything fits together to appeal to the individual, to make the individual realize the true unconditional love and peace that each work offers. The blend of all these mathematical concepts combined with the natural state of existence lends to my creative love for art and the art of being human, the art of being peace, the art of unconditional love for self and all things

Part 2 of the definition
The Scientist:
I would say that being in the field of health and wellness is my destiny. From out of the womb you could find me with a ball in my hand or playing sports. At a young age I was introduced to the gym and started lifting weights in preparation for sports or at least I thought. Little did I know I would end up where I am at but it sure does make sense.
From my first job as a personal trainer I was a student, a sponge for information and have the certifications to back it up. This led to me obtaining my Masters Degree in Kinesiology and where I truly began to understand the science behind the training or as I look back now and say workouts.
As a professional I find the technical aspects, the scientific, mathematic, physics, geometry, etc. aspects are integral to being able to train, teach and coach a person to their best. Because of this I have become a scientist who incorporates the math, physics, geometry, algebra, etc. into my practice.
Being and becoming a scientist has made me mechanically & technically very strong and this has shown in the results my clients have achieved as well as my own personal results.
The basis is science, anatomy and physiology but the difference is in the application.

The Beginnings of my new definition or whatever you want to call it
Defining myself and my business practice has always been a challenge simply because I and my business keep evolving. I might say I am a modern renanisance man, a DaVinci of my own kind whose curious mind is exploring life and human potential on multiple facets. I delve into many things eager to learn the essence of what makes these things tic, go, etc. Because of this I have been called a ‘jack of all trades and master of none.” I find this to be a compliment and I will say this, I am a jack of all trades and at the same time I am a studying to be a ‘master’ of the integration of all these trades into my own personal philosophy based on how I am experiencing life through my eyes and the eyes of those I encounter and learn from.
If you are reading this then it is you who I learn from and with and whom I maybe a teacher, coach, trainer, educator, etc. of. Life is my playground it truly is my laboratory where I get to explore and discover mine human potential and help others do the same.
The scientist, artist, the philosopher and the compass are some of the essence of what I am and how/what I do. They call me a personal trainer, a kettlebell instructor, a coach, a life coach, a strength and conditioning coach, a yoga teacher, a martial artist, a nutritionist, a massage therapist…I think you get the point. The truth of the matter is I am truly an artist, who is a classically trained scientist/mathematician on the form, function, and mechanics of movement and philosophy and therefore provide a compass to help lead you to your destination. How they show up is in the form of training for a life in movement and stillness.
.....More to come, the scientist, artist, philosopher and compass sections each to follow if interested. Also this is on my website ;)

Scaling Walls One Step at a Time
One step at a time! Life is one step at a time and when we follow this process we tend to make real strides toward our desired destiny. Lao Tzu, the great philosopher and author says a journey of a thousand miles begins with One Step and I wish to add that it ends with one step.
Often times we want to the outcome, the end result and in that process miss out on the journey which in its own right is rewarding. Awareness of each step and living/being present with each step will bring so many insights, experiences, opportunities that the rewards will add up and the end result/outcome will be that much more enriching!
The Magic Pill is a wonderful concept because we could achieve so much more in our lives, or we think. The reality of life is we enjoy and appreciate our achievements far more when we earn them, rather then when given to us. Blood, sweat and tears make for truly enriching life.
I have observed in myself and others that when we attempt to make many steps at once or we skip steps that we often miss important pieces and often stumble, trip and fall harder than if we had taken our time, been patience, allowed for things to open and flow one step at a time.
The key or at least one of many keys ☺ is that we realize each step is filled with so much that bypassing that step will lead to less than if we had taken it. Hindsight is 20/20 but in hindsight I have learned and began to have gratitude for Lao Tzu and his 2500 + year old wisdom to resonate. And, now living and practicing in this manner has and continues to fill my life with so much nourishing and enriching moments, experiences that not a day goes by where I do not feel alive and full of love and life.
So when making goals, making plans, dreaming of something, wishing for something, just take one step at a time, stay present, stay open, and allow for things to come and happen being true to yourself and the process.

Changing Tides
Life and time is in a constant state of motion, a continuim! And as each moment blends into the next, change is happening on the deepest cellular levels and on the outer most superficial levels.
It is our ability to recognize, be conscious of this present moment, living in the present moment, the ability to adapt, improvise, overcome, and for me flow with the currents of life that truly define our ability to translate what is and live what is.
I write this as I currently reflect on all the amazing changes that are happening and as I step back, step away to look upon the situation with a soft gaze and compassionate eye for my own existence and present moment, present state and how I sit with, be with what is.
The beauty of it is I am able to practice what I preach, life the words I write, speak, translate and communicate putting them into action. As I am asked to do a certain action or actions, which I was not prepared for in terms of the specific moment they were going to appear, but was aware were going to happen, I am ready to respond! Employing the concept of being a few steps ahead of the curve has put me in a position to be able to stay calm, peaceful, grateful, compassionate, conscious and present as these changes are put in front of me!
My practices, my philosophies are ringing true and I am so humbled by all that life is placing on my plate and that are affirming what I feel is the wisdom I have gathered through my numerous experiences. If it was not wisdom before it sure is becoming such. By the way, what the heck is wisdom?
I will say that the years of work I have put into my own personal growth, the words I have read, the ones I have spoken and that have been spoken and shared with me, the daily actions such as yoga and meditation and other forms of 'physical' practice, etc. truly are becoming ingrained in me to the point where they are not thoughts but a way of being, truly an organic and all natural state of existence.
This is a process, truly a journey and I have been consciously going at it for a long time and I find that my consciousness around it grows as I live and act in the present and in my essence. This is evident by how I use this space to communicate and share. What once was a place for workout logs is now what it is...another change that I embrace.
Change is exactly that and we all have our own way in which we approach and deal with the constant changes going in and around us. I say stay present, stay flexible and if at all possible, at least one step ahead. I encourage you to empty your cup of ideology and be open to what is, what is truly happening. I say do not judge but be at peace with the change and I will admit this is easier said when you are present, in your essence and one or more steps ahead.
Do not deny yourself or anyone else the opportunity, for you are the change you wish to be and see in everyone and everything. So embrace and flow with life and you will find that things are much smoother, much easier when done so!

Stand Up, Step Forward, the TIME IS NOW!
Pain is part of life or it seems, at least this is my experience and the majority of folks whom I know and have encountered seem to have had similar such experiences. There are those who do not suffer pain, few and far between but it does exist. I argue that after a certain point, after say various stages of growth and evolution one can never encounter pain again. Yes, this is a very eastern approach similar to buddhism and taoism but it is possible even if you do not believe so, it is possible for others and I want to encourage you to contemplate and explore this.
I will say the pains I have experienced have played a pivotal role in my current state of being and existence. It is through the suffering that I learned and continue in hindsight learn so many deep rooted lessons that continue to help evolve me on my path! I am grateful for all the experiences I have encountered and would not change any of them.
But here is the bigger picture, we must evolve, we must make a choice, make a decision to not allow these so called pains or negative experiences hold us back, keep us down, prevent us from, allow us to be miserable, or as I like to say prevent us from ever reaching beyond the pain and out into the world beyond the pain, into our true beauty and essence, into our human potential as loving, compassionate, kind, thoughtful, 'positive', fun, peaceful, grateful beings that we are and can be!
It is all too often that I see people allowing themselves and their 'negative' or painful experiences holding them back from all the beauty that exists in the world. Sure, we may need time to work through, wallow in self pity, etc. in order to learn...this was my case but I did not let go on for years and years and years and just never seem to get out of the 'funk'
Shit people, what the f*ck this is your life, wake up, reach out, step forward, challenge yourself, shift your paradigm, be the change, change the way, help others, etc. there is no shame it is time the TIME IS NOW to wake the f*ck up and stop blaming others, including yourself, learn what you need to learn, do what you need to do and get out a live! Live the Life you wish, be the person you wish and the person you wish others to be! Sh8t, sitting in misery, being in misery, living in a box and hole does nothing for you or anyone else. PS: people are not waiting for you, time is not waiting for you. I understand that maybe it has been 'harder' than others, that things are not how you wish but is sitting and wallowing in self pity how you wish?
It is you, you are the one, you are the difference, you are the creator, you are the change, you are responsible, you are accountable for yourself, you are you and know one else, so stand up and step forward!
The TIME IS NOW and always will be

Some Philosophies!
Personal Philosophy
*I encourage you to look at this as a lifelong process and enjoy each and every day, each moment, experience, encounter, relationship, meeting, trip to the grocery store, meal, workout, walk, etc.
*I ask you to think kind, loving, positive thoughts of gratitude and appreciation for all that you experience.
*I tell you that worrying, being stressed, anxiety, etc, all our signs for you to look inside yourself and seek creative actions to conquer these challenging feelings that have the ability to overwhelm us.
*I want you to understand that you have a past and moving forward will overcome these feelings and in the process strengthen yourself.
*I want you to be aware that you are learning to be more compassionate towards all of life and to become more aware of the things that cause these feelings.
*Life truly is a blessing and the fact that you are here now shows just how courageous, aware, and motivated you are to learn, hear, see what is out there to better/strengthen yourself.
*Please keep in mind that on this journey of life it is necessary to take small steps, one step at a time and make sure you are on solid ground before continuing forward. This will more than likely ensure that you keep the progress going in the right direction, forward towards your goals. As the old saying goes life is truly a marathon and not a sprint so pace yourself and do not forget to stop and smell the roses.
*An essential aspect to being successful during this process is maintaining and in many cases gaining perspective on your current status and what it is going to take to make and implement the change(s) you desire.

Valuable Lessons on what could and what is!
It has been about 12 years since I stepped on too the pitch and played competitive Rugby. About 7 years ago I went out to a few practices thinkning oh maybe, just maybe I want to do this but I decided against it for whatever reasons. Yesterday was the first time I had played a competitive sport where there was physical contact, sprinting, changing directions, and teamwork involved! WOW, did it ever bring back memories....
I must say the memories are filled with lessons that have played a large part in whom I am today and I would not change a thing for I do not live in the past, but learn from it and have gratitude for it! That being said the memories are not all of which you may think.
See, today I talk about living beyond the box, exploring human potential, a life with unlimited possibilities, etc. It was not always the case for me because as a young athlete I let many things come in my way from every achieving what I could have in sport! When the going got tough, I often just figured I would do something else, that I was getting short changed (no pun intended), screwed, etc. Instead of seeing it as an opportunity to challenge myself, to better myself I choose to essentially quit and find other things.
Rugby was one such sport, I had a lot of success and was learning and growing in the game and then I choose a different route, not because of I was not playing because I was a starter at my college, playing the most important position, Scrum Half which is the quarterback of the team. Instead I choose to party. Yesterdays game was a reminder of the direction I choose, giving up my potential because at that point I was lazy and wanted to chase women and good times at the bars, etc.
All these experiences in sport are as I mentioned a part of my experiences and have shaped who I am. Because I got cut from the Baseball team, choose not to play football, choose to quit Rugby I ended up lifting weights. This has lead me down the path I currently travel, since my weight training and the people I meet from partying got me a job as a trainer over 13 years ago at 24 Hour Fitness and here I am today.
For me the moral of the story is this, life takes you down many roads and things happen for reasons, we make choices at certain points in time for reasons that may not make sense at the time but do in the long run. Did I ever achieve my sport potential no, but that does not mean I cannot achieve my potential in life, all aspects. And for me the lessons of what could have been and the reasons why it is not have given me the knowledge and now wisdom to live my life without limits, to explore all the possibilities, to take chances, make things happen, put myself out there, challenge and explore my human potential. Yesterday I got to play again and I did so with gratitude and youthful joy! I realize what could have been but live what is and that is a life full of life and unlimited potential!
I have immense gratitude for all that has happened in life and sit in awe that I am so blessed to be alive, inspired, and kicking. It is all in how you see it and do it! I am doing it and seeing it without limits, without borders and boundaries

Blessings and Fortune! I offer my thank you to each of you!
Every so often I like to step back and remove myself from myself and my world and reflect. Daily I get so much confirmation, so much love and energy, so much nourishment and fuel from those who I encounter. All this is a blessing, is the stuff of great fortune or sincere gratitude, brings about humility and makes me so humbled.
We all have unlimited ability, unlimited power to accomplish and achieve whatever it is we wish too. Of course, we all excel in certain areas and many of us in many areas and we all are capable of excelling in whatever it is we wish too, this is my truth! And so it goes on and on and without saying that I feel blessed to be living my passion, my essence, my essential self and being, my truth and too see that in doing so I am able to be a presence and conduit for others, just as they are for me.
I offer my gratitude and extend my thank you's to each and everyone of you for teaching me, the eternal and internal student of life, living, and the constant state of being present! I am so honored to share this path with each and everyone of you and it is you who empowers and inspires me beyond even my own capabilities.
I share this to continue to acknowledge each of yours presence and influence and in doing so hope to encourage you all to keep sharing, exploring, engaging, reaching out, opening up, looking beyond, being true, being unconditional, being the love and light that you are for me and doing this for others.
Together we truly can achieve more and we must believe it is possible, anything is possible and if you are not certain reach out to one of your fellow community members, come to me or whomever and channeling the loving energy, the possibility! See, I am the possibility, I am what can happen when you believe and it is all of you whom help to reaffirm this and I hope that my sharing does the same for you.
We all are masters, we are our own masters and guru's, we are our best teachers because we are the student! Thank you for teaching me life and living, love and giving unconditional, thank you for receiving and sharing, extending and offering, giving and giving so openly without judgement or prejudice, thank you for being your essential self, your essence
I send this with unconditional love and gratitude!

Juggling
I have never been good at juggling. Now, neither have I ever put time into it and practiced, so hard to get at something you do not practice! This being said I have decided to place all the balls I am juggling on the floor and pick them up one at a time! This way I will have the right ball at the right time in the left hand ;-).
The way I figure is I am someone who has a lot of amazing and wonderful things happening and I am going to keep them all because I can and I want too. However, the way I feel for me to best handle this is to be focused on the ball I need to in that present moment and allow the others to lay comfortably still on the ground.
Hey, if I am present and placing my energy and attention on that ball, the one in the present moment/place, then I avoid the potential chaos of trying to juggling multiple balls at once.
Why juggle multiple balls at once, potentially dropping one, or all when you can just pick up the one that you need to in that moment? Why make things more difficult?

The Student, the Master or.....
A few days back I wrote a post about the student being ready and the master appearing, how true this is? However, today I ponder another question related to this topic. I am curious, are people of the United States or American Culture (generalization being used) really students?
To go a bit further, I am asking if we truly are students in the sense that we are curious and open as well eager to learn about all things life, especially if we know it will improve us in our areas of interests or expertise?
Personally, this has not always been the case for me. I appeared ready as a student, the master did indeed appear but my ego (and maybe sometimes that of the master as well, I have been on both sides) ego placed some boundaries that in turn presented limitations. This is not too say things were not learned at that point and more importantly you can see that I am and continue to learn from those instances even if in hindsight (it does not necessarily matter when, because if you are truly a student you can and will learn in time). However, I realize that I was not living up to my potential because as I student I had the false precepts, or at least ideas that I had a lot of knowledge, a lot of information and therefore I wanted to share mine more than just empty my cup and come from a beginners mind thus placing no boundaries.
So, I ask, are we really great students. I have been in the position to be both student and master and quite often as of recent. I have found that depending on the level of the student, sometimes they truly are not ready for what the master has to offer (as mentioned above in my own personal experience as a student). playing the role of master in this I find that I truly am always a student and thus in turn learning how to become an even better master.
It is my believe that knowledge and information does not make you a master, it is truly what you do with it and how you use it that differentiates you from others. As I open myself to the unlimited possibilities I begin to see deeper and more clearly the distinction and the path for mastery. The true mastery is of the self and from there learning how to translate and communicate this effectively to your audience, whomever it be. True masters have a way, a way of no way, a formless form, a beginners mind, an empty cup, an egoless ego in which they offer, share, give, recieve, experience, learn, move, function, be!
One can only practice and train moment by moment, day by day to become a master. And it is through being a student and being in a constant state of living and freedom of ego that the masters becomes....
Some things to ponder by Bruce Lee:
"I have come to discover through earnest personal experience and dedicated learning that ultimately the greatest help if self-help; that there is no other help but self-help—doing one’s best, dedicating one’s self wholeheartedly to a given task, which happens to have no end but is an ongoing process. I have done a lot during these years of my process. A swell in my process, I have changed from self-image actualization to self-actualization, from blindly following propaganda, organized truths, etc. to searching internally for the cause of my ignorance."
"An instructor should exemplify the things he seeks to teach. It will be of great advantage if you yourself can do all you ask of your students and more."
Emptiness the starting point. — In order to taste my cup of water you must first empty your cup. My friend, drop all you preconceived and fixed ideas and be neutral. Do you know why this cup is useful? Because it is empty.
Life is wide, limitless. There is no border, no frontier
Life itself is your teacher, and you are in a state of constant learning.
What we are after is the ROOT and not the branches. The root is the real knowledge; the branches are surface knowledge. Real knowledge breeds "body feel" and personal expression; surface knowledge breeds mechanical conditioning and imposing limitation and squelches creativity.
Concepts vs. self-actualization. — Instead of dedicating your life to actualize a concept of what you should be like, ACTUALIZE YOURSELF. The process of maturing does not mean to become a captive of conceptualization. It is to come to the realization of what lies in our innermost selves.

Ten Commandments
Osho's "Ten Commandments"
In 1970, when he was still known as Acharya Rajneesh, Osho was asked about his "Ten Commandments". In his letter of reply, Osho noted that it was a difficult matter, because he was against any kind of commandment, but "just for fun" agreed to set out the following
“
Never obey anyone's command unless it is coming from within you also.
There is no God other than life itself.
Truth is within you, do not search for it elsewhere.
Love is prayer.
To become a nothingness is the door to truth. Nothingness itself is the means, the goal and attainment.
Life is now and here.
Live wakefully.
Do not swim – float.
Die each moment so that you can be new each moment.
Do not search. That which is, is. Stop and see.
”
He underlined numbers 3, 7, 9 and 10.The ideas expressed in these Commandments have remained a constant leitmotif in his movement.
This particular information comes from spiritual guru Osho. I found this off of Wikipedia and found it so fascinating, deep, and thought provoking that I had too share. All I can say is hmmmm

Are You????
What is your potential?
Are you willing to find out?
Are you willing to explore the depths of your soul, the depths of the meaning of life, the depths of your relationship to all things including your truth, your essence?
Are you willing to go where you have never gone before?
Are you willing to be humble and open enough to explore?
Are you willing to say I do not know but I am here to find out?
Are you willing to be a student?
Are you willing to risk 'failure', "humiliation", 'frustration'?
Are you willing to experience life for the purposes of exploring human potential without any ties to the outcome other than to know just by stepping up and doing it, being open to it, being willing to explore you have already done more than you ever have before?
Where are you willing to travel, can you take the path least taken?
Are you willing to live in your essence, in your truth, in your essential state, defying conventional wisdom and finding your way, the way of no way, the formless form?
Are you willing to stretch and be flexible, too see beyond the minds eye, beyond the tangible, beyond what your thoughts are?
I am and I invite you to join me on this journey and explore with me as I explore with you and we share and discover together our human potential and the absolute beauty that exists in EVERYTHING!

There is no such thing as a style if....
All too often we get caught, hung up, trapped in names, words, styles, etc. As Bruce Lee says himself of his own style, Jeet Ku Do, "it's just a name; don't fuss over it. There's no such thing as a style if you understand the roots of combat."
How true is this of life. If we just look at the roots, the depth of things beyond the surface, beyond the eye to the spirit and soul of the matter, the heart of the matter unlimited potential exists. We could then move beyond the ego, beyond wrong or right and have more conducive conversation and communication serving as an opportunity and portal for all of us to learn, grow, share, experience. We could then detach from our ideas and thoughts of how things should be based on preconcieved notions and begin to be open the experience and therefore flow with life being dynamic and fluid, like life itself.
This is the way of no way, the formless form and reaches beyond the tangible to those things that we call or think of as the intangible maybe even the unimaginable.

When the Student is ready, the master will appear
I must be ready because the master or masters keep appearing. I have not always been present nor aware of this but in hind sight I see clearly this has indeed been the case, starting back to my teens when my sisters boyfriend taught me essentially the beginning of weight lifting or bodybuilding and continues to present day.
This concept of course works both ways, with people coming to learn from me, but what they may or may not realize is that I learn as much or more from them than maybe they do from me. I love 'clients' because they are such great teachers.
As I continue to delve deeper into study and practice I find that opportunities are abound and boundless. People keep opening doors to amazing teachers, masters, styles, concepts, methods, etc.
Currently I have the pleasure of studying under a few such people and there are a few on the horizon I am and will be intersecting with and of course those that I am currently unaware of who also will cross paths with me.
For me as a teacher, a trainer, a coach, an educator I find that the strength of my practice, my curious nature to learn the essence of various forms related to what I am doing are key! I find that the better and more I am a student and the deeper my practice of what I am studying the more I offer to those whom I encounter as their master, sensei, guru, teacher, coach, trainer, etc...whatever you want to call me or it.
For example, I am looking deeper into various forms of yoga such as Shadow Yoga, Iyengar, YogicArts (Duncan Wong), and even Vinyasa (especially since this is what I am teaching) and then examining through practice and play how it all integrates and then of course sharing this with others....AWESOME
Then there is the martial arts as I have begun my practice and study of Aikido and now I am being presented with a future opportunity to study Qi Gong with a master through another Master I know. Then taking Shadow Yoga and YogicArts and Budokon which are both styles that incorporate various aspects of Chinese Medicine and Martial Arts into a yoga practice (this is cool that people already are exploring this integrative model.
To take things even deeper I am learning how all the energy and synergy of all these modalities incorporate with Kettlebells and even the powerlifts. I am beginning to explore the human movement potential on levels beyond the eye and words into the depths of energetics and beyond. All these modalities and these masters/teachers are opening doors to another realm of movement and depth that truly is unleashing human potential
The Lab, where we are constantly exploring Human Potential...it continues to evolve, it is only the beginning

Love Unconditional
All these years of love in my life and it was not until recently that I believe I broke into the love circle. What do I mean? Well, throughout all the years and my experience I finally took what had been an idea and concept and turned it into an actual state of being. What is that state of being you ask, I say unconditional love!
Yes, Unconditional Love of self first and foremost. Why me first and foremost because life begins with you and ends with you! If you do not love yourself completely and without condition then in my believe you cannot do so for any other!
So what is it, unconditional love?
*A it is your own love for yourself as mentioned above
*It is being kind, compassionate and respectful to yourself and this extends to others
*It is having gratitude for yourself and life again extending this to having gratitude for others
*It is being non judgmental of yourself and others.
*It is being and show love because it is who you are not what you do or expect in return
*It is living and being your essence!
*It is being true, honest, acting with integrity and character.
*It is forgiveness
*It is appreciation and acceptance for what is, whole heartedly
*It is heart conscious
I can keep going on but the gist of it is as listed above. This is reflective of my philosophy and it works for me :-) and this is why I share it. I will say this all things love and everything else comes together when you have unconditional love of self!
Enjoy life, live life, be alive and enjoy the love of yourself and others. Teach, show, people that true love is possible, unconditional love is possible. It begins with YOU!

Form and Flow
"The other weakness is, when clans are formed, the people of a clan will hold their kind of martial art as the only truth and do not dare to reform or improve it. Thus they are confined in their own tiny little world. Their students become machines which imitate martial art forms."
Form is essential, it is a key element a student must know and understand. However, out of form evolves flow is this is the truth of the form, the formless form that is adapted and improved upon, explored and researched as to have no way, to have no limitation. Learn your forms, understand how the form is applied, etc. and then develop your flow. As Bruce Lee goes onto further say "Mere technical knowledge is only the beginning of Kung Fu. To master it, one must enter into the spirit of it." The spirit is evident in the flow, in your interpretation as relevant to the application. The flow is in respect to the form and may look exactly like the actual form to the eye but the flow truly is something beyond the minds eye. Look beyond the mere science and technical merits into the depths of the wisdom behind it all!
"Use no way as way; use no limitation as limitation."

Strength and Being Strong?
What does it mean to be Strong or have strength? Is this not a fascinating and deep conversational piece or what? I mean just think about it for a moment and what comes to mind? Strength and being strong are such dynamic and loaded terms and can be applied across a broad based spectrum of life.
Now, I would say I am strong and have strength just by definitions. I would also say that I have not and am know where near my potential. This being said I am in a constant of learning and exploration just by osmosis and by living and breathing each and everyday. In this process, through this journey I feel my strength and my being strong increasing each and every day, every moment of life!
Since strength and the concept of being strong is so broad based I am eager to explore this on various levels and because of this I am beginning to see these concepts in such a new light, one that is so much brighter and ever present than before. Strength and being strong to me are more internal concepts and I am beginning to understand on another level of consciousness how my strength is one of internal not so much external, it just shows up this way. As one might say my strength is very raw.
Now, enough bragging about myself, but as a student, coach, teacher and trainer it is important to use myself and my practice as a labroratory for exploration and testing. Since I have been doing this for 34 years (not all consciously or at least I think not) I am truly gaining a level of education that is unprecedented for myself and one that leaves me humbled that I am able to have the awareness around what is truly 'happening'.
To take it too another level I am beginning to be able to convene this information to others and coach, teach and train them to realize their internal strength, to discover it, to unleash and then to take it to the external stuff. They in turn do what they wish with this as they should. I am certain that all of them will take what they need for themselves it will show up in their life as it is meant to be!
As I become a martial artist, yogi, etc. and learn the arts and science behind these philosophies and movement dynamics the internal aspect becomes so much more apparent and the real truth behind the strength of these and many other concepts of life and living.
To be strong is what it is and strength is what it is. The numbers are cool but the internal is true!

Play session at Ken Blacks Garage of Strength
Just a short play session with Ken's Stones and steel log. Never done a stone before and Ken encouraged I give it a go. After spending the day listening to Louie Simmons I was feeling strength through Osmosis and decided to give it a try. The stones weigh 170 and 240 lbs and let me say they are truly odd and the difference is huge in terms of weight and skill.

3 Stages of Cultivation
The Three Stages of Cultivation - according to Bruce Lee
The first is the primitive stage. It is a stage of original ignorance in which a person knows nothing about the art of combat. In a fight, he simply blocks and strikes instinctively without a concern for what is right and wrong. Of course, he may not be so-called scientific, but, nevertheless, being himself, his attacks or defenses are fluid.
The second stage—the stage of sophistication, or mechanical stage—begins when a person starts his training. He is taught the different ways of blocking, striking, kicking, standing, breathing, and thinking—unquestionably, he has gained the scientific knowledge of combat, but unfortunately his original self and sense of freedom are lost, and his action no longer flows by itself. His mind tends to freeze at different movements for calculations and analysis, and even worse, he might be called “intellectually bound” and maintain himself outside of the actual reality. ·
The third stage—the stage of artlessness, or spontaneous stage—occurs when, after years of serious and hard practice, the student realizes that after all, gung fu is nothing special. And instead of trying to impose on his mind, he adjusts himself to his opponent like water pressing on an earthen wall. It flows through the slightest crack. There is nothing to try to do but try to be purposeless and formless, like water. All of his classical techniques and standard styles are minimized, if not wiped out, and nothingness prevails. He is no longer confined.
Bruce Lee is wise and his wisdom lives. This wisdom applies in all aspects of life, just substitute words and you will find it to have truth. The wisdom is not in the knowing but in the freedom of flowing through life with the knowledge in hand but not controlling.

Really?, Wow pretty cool
The Scientist, Physiologist, Mathematician, Physicist, Philosopher and Artist. This is what I be. Recently I have been reflecting on what it is I "DO" And these words in a nutshell describe as only words can what I "DO"
As a coach, teacher, trainer, and guide my approach is based on the fundamental concepts and principles of these above 'classroom' subjects. They provide the framework for how I architect my business. Each of these plays a role in and every session throughout each and every moment. They are the basis of all my work and life philosophies related to teaching the art of movement and stillness in Life and Living!
Wow, more to come but this is step in the process of understanding how all these play a larger role in who I am, what I do, who I be, what I study, how I see, how I move, how I perform and most important how I translate, interpret and communicate in life and of course in my 'business'
One may ask are my life and business any different, and I would gander to say nope! :-)
The way of no way keeps on flowing!

The Art of Practice
Practice, the path to potential mastery. Yes, potential because practice alone does not determine one's ability to become a master. Being a master requires an in depth understanding of all the aspects that are being learned and experienced during practice.
What I encourage is a daily practice of the science and the art behind and within whatever it is you are doing. For instance, myself I practice the daily art of living and I do so through the experience of movement arts like yoga, aikido, kettlebells, strength training, philosophy and so much more. It is in these practices that I explore and study life and the integration of the science, art and philosophy of each art and the art of living!
In practice I pay close attention to all the details, constantly feeling, being, thinking, anaylzing, inquiring, exploring, discovering, experiencing all that I can within each and every moment, movement, etc. My level of awareness, focus, concentration, and consciousness are at their peak. I do this every day, every practice, every moment to the best of my abilities in the present state I exist.
The key then is to take all this knowledge and information and turn it into wisdom, so when I actually have to perform I do not have to think, I just do, I just be, it is just a conscious choice action!
A very important aspect of making this all come together so it is just an normal action, something that is truly mindful yet thoughtless is how you practice. When practicing I say less is more, slow is fast, soft is hard, stillness is movement, effortless is effort. This translates into practice with perfection (as you know it), practice with a great attention to detail doing as perfect as possible. And, to ensure you are doing this, learn what it means, what it looks like to be perfect in whatever it is you wish to excel and practice.
Often we move way to fast and 'try' to do way to much that we end up 'trying' and end up underachieving (or as I say achieving exactly what you are supposed based on your choice actions, not your intentions, not your wishes, goals, dreams, etc. but how you are actually moving through life). Therefore a key is in your daily practice to have a clear intention and live up to that and make sure your actions support your intentions, dreams, goals, etc.
This is not only possible but is happening. People are living the life they intend, the are living their dreams and accomplishing their goals and maybe you are one of them, I certainly would love to hear that you are, I am!
Practice never ends, never stops, it is in a constant state of motion. Life does not stop, it is in a constant state of motion, so ride the wave, find your balance, feel the water, be the water, flow with life and enjoy the sun! If you practice this, you will indeed be this!
